22.62 Lbs/HP
Yup, in 2015 you can buy a Scion with factory rub rails and the same power to weight as a 90’s Saturn station wagon. A Versa Note is slightly worse at 22.94 lbs/HP, but can you find a car, truck or van sold in the US that does worse than that?

Not the Mirage! Why? Because lightweight.

Still working on my murage rainbow. I got purple, blue, green add white. I need red, black, lesser black and grey before it’s complete.
I spotted a red one while driving but there was no way to get a shot of it.

Well, you can get a 2000 lbs mirage, and seeing as it only has 77 hp its the new winner at 25.97...that’s 1st gen Explorer bad.

The Spark weighs more and has about the same power.

The European equivalent of the Scion iM Toyota Auris is available with a 100hp NA 1.33 engine that’s far worse than anything you’ll be getting in the States. 100hp doesn’t sound like a terrible amount of power, but due to the small displacement you need to rev it ridiculously hard to get anywhere and the torque value may as well be in the negatives. A fried of mine has a previous gen Auris with that engine and claims his old 60hp Skoda Fabia felt faster.

31.10 lb/ hp. Nissan Leaf SL

good one, taking into account the usable power (via the fat torque curve) its still probably a better drive than the Toyota, but its true...lots of lard for little hp.

I had a 2011 Chevy Aveo. 2550 pounds with 108 hp gives you 23.61 pounds per pony.

ooof, Sorry to hear that. I mean I don’t feel THAT bad for you because my current DD is sitting in the 26 lbs/hp range, but at least its not an aveo.

Honda CR-V’s have 160-180HP and weigh 3370lbs, which gives you 19-21 pounds per pony.
It doesn’t quite like hilly roads

Ha ha well I’ve traded “up” from the Aveo to an Explorer. I think I made the right choice but we’ll see how it does in Spain.

Was yours a stick?
mine was, yes it was slow by if you reved it out it could get out of its own say reasonably well. The tires however were unadulterated crap although they did match up well to the suspension I suppose.

Ram Promaster: 4624lbs / 174hp = 26.58lbs/hp
And that’s just the normal van. If you get LWB or high-roof version it gets worse.
It does improve vastly with the V6 though.

Sadly mine was auto. The wife hasn’t learned that gloriousness that is Manuél Transmissión yet so we got the auto for when she needed it.

Wow autocorrect destroyed my earlier post!
I can imagine that car being pretty horrible with an auto

Holy crap, didn’t realize.
Hell, my ‘08 FJC has just 17.9lbs/hp using the model’s max curb weight spec.

37 lbs per hp.

The LWB Transit Connect Wagon is at 23.5 (3979/169). I suspect that the top trim probably weighs a bit more.
I drove one yesterday. It wasn’t bad at all. I’m considering it.

GOOD. I don’t want a 16 year old kid (Scion’s target audience, which people forget) to drive around in a 250hp turbo AWD wagon. No. I want them in a car with a hamster under the hood, struggling to hit 60 without a tail wind.

Isn’t it also available with a 300hpish V6? Yikes!

okay, not sold in UK but I nominate my car
Opel/Vauxhall Corsa C 1.0
855 Kg (so light!)=2000 (ish) pounds
58 Hp (well it had while ago)
3 cylinders, 973 ccm
that equates to 33 pounds per horsepower and I love it!

I’d like to know how the Tesla and Hellcat fare. They have lots of HP, but also lots of pounds... I can’t find the figures for the Tesla D.

Funky maths? The 451 smart has a base kerb weight of 1,808 lb and it has a 70 bhp engine. That comes out to 25.83 lb/hp.
Slow is the name of the game with city cars. xD

chop off the exhaust after the cat and you lose weight and gain power! and a headache after 10 minutes of city driving, but that’s normal right?
![]() 07/01/2015 at 15:39 |

Probably has decent torque to weight though

My girlfriend bought a 2015 Kia Forte LX with the 1.8L . 145HP and 2800lbs isn’t bad for some but man it’s slow to me and the shot doesn’t get nowhere near its mpg ratings! Damn you Kia and your deceitful ways!!

133lb-ft isn’t particularly great.

17.8 lbs per lb/ft and 133 lb/ft at 0 rpm isn’t terrible though ESP with 2300lbs to tug around a city
FRS is 18.5lbs per lb/ft and only has 151@6600rpm.
